YOU CAN VOLUNTEER FOR MORE THAN ONE SHIFT, PLEASE KEEP IN MIND  THAT YOU HAVE TO FINISH ALL YOUR SHIFTS BEFORE YOU ARE ALLOW TO SHOP.

REGISTRATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED OVER THE PHONE OR VIA TEXT.  We are so very sorry, Covid-19 has turn our ministry upside down.

Our shopping event is on June 14th, from 1 to 4 pm, however; if you wish to volunteer then you need to join us on Friday, May 29. We refer to this day as our Sort Day. It’s on this day when we get to take all of our donations out of our storage room and sort them. They are sorted by size and by gender. We are only interested in keeping clothing that is free of tears, stains and not soiled so we need lots of assistance to help us go through every item!
Volunteers get to shop first and they do NOT pay the entrance fee!
There are a few rules for volunteering that we highly appreciate each volunteer respecting.

1. We begin at 8 am.
2. Once at God's Closet you will need to sign-in and sign out. This is required EACH time you leave and return.
3. A minimum of 2 hours is REQUIRED in order to be able to shop at God’s Closet.
4. You are ONLY welcome to shop AFTER you are finished volunteering for two hours.
5. If, while you are sorting donations, you find something you would like to keep for yourself, you may set it aside.
6. It is UNACCEPTABLE to volunteer for God’s Closet but end up ONLY shopping instead.
7. YOU CAN VOLUNTEER FOR MORE THAN ONE SHIFT, PLEASE KEEP IN MIND  THAT YOU HAVE TO FINISH ALL YOUR SHIFTS BEFORE YOU ARE ALLOW TO SHOP.
8. We offer 4 bags of free children's clothes to all volunteers + 1 large item (jacket, blanket etc.). We provide the bags.
9. Regardless of the number of hours you work or the number of members in your family it is ONLY 4 BAGS PER FAMILY.
10. WE DO NOT accept money for additional bags of clothes.
11. After shopping during our sorting event (Friday, May 29) Volunteers are not allowed to return on Sunday, June 14th during God’s Closet’s event to shop. We consider that DOUBLE DIPPING! And that's not cool with us. :-(
12. At this time, God's Closet does not provide childcare during our Volunteer set up day.
13. The ministry of God’s Closet will not be responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged personal items while volunteering for God’s Closet.
14. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN MASK AND GLOVES.

We look forward to seeing many volunteers! We can't do this without you. So many thanks! YOU are essential in order for us to accomplish this ministry...

God’s Closet is a non-profit organization that supports families in need.  We are extremely excited to be in Columbia.  We collect and distribute new and gently used children’s clothes.  Once every quarter we open our doors to the community to come and shop FREE of charge for all their children’s clothing needs.

Shopping at God's Closet is the same experience as shopping at a regular store with the exception that all the clothes are free! We ask only for $1 as an entrance fee, (fee is per family, not per person).  The fee helps cover all expenses incurred.  We provide shoppers with the bags then invite them to enter our venue and shop. For easy shopping, donations are sorted by size and by gender.

At each event we determine how many bags each family receives.  This is based on the amount of donations we obtain, the more donations we have the more we can share.  We are not a store; we do not maintain regular business hours. Our events happen only once every three months and that is the only time ‘shopping’ is available.  Dates and times for events are posted on our facebook page www.facebook.com/GodsClosetColumbia.

God's Closet is for everyone. We provide clothes for children ages newborn to teenager.  God’s Closet only accepts children’s clothes, shoes and bedding. We do not receive or distribute adult clothes or any type of child related items such as car seats, toys, stuffed animals etc.

God’s Closet is volunteer friendly, it is ran 100% by volunteers.  During God’s Closet each volunteer is required to donate 2 hours of their time in order to 'shop'.  Volunteers always 'shop' first and they do not pay the shopping fee!  During our events we provide child care for children ages 4 to 8 years old.
